Build A Balanced List

Assessments to determine the type of college that fits your specific needs and an assessment of your educational profile. Topics covered will include: academic rigor, UC Calculator, financial needs, SAT, timelines, and student college fit assessment. Thereafter, a detailed list will be presented with Reach, Target and Safety schools. We can edit this list to create a balanced list of 12 schools. This process typically takes 2 (1.5 hour) sessions, plus counselor research of an estimated 3-4 hours to build a tailored, balanced college list. Students will need to perform independent work of a college fit needs assessment.

Exploring College Major

Counselor and student will explore student strengths and interest in an effort to declare a college major and possible careers. This service is billed on an hourly basis and timing is dependent on student needs.

College Visits

Students will develop the skills and knowledge to bring with them when performing college visits. Students will be provided with assessments and worksheets. This will typically take 2 (1-hour) sessions. Student will need to perform independent work, along with 1-1 scheduled meeetings.

College Essay and Short Answer Review

Students will be provided with support throughout the brainstorm, drafting and editing phases of writing their essays. Counselors will provide constructive feedback in comments sections. As a member of the Independent Educational Counselors Association, it is unethical for the college counselor to make any direct changes or draft any portion of a student's essay. This service will depend on each individual student’s needs. Time spent reviewing and providing constructive comments is considered billable.

Resume Workshop

Counselor will provide a template for the student, and walk the student through the process of building a resume. Resume building is a great way to track internships, volunteer work, jobs, honors and awards. This resume will become a resource when completing portions of the common app, UC applications and Cal State applications. Resume building will typically take 1-2 (1-hour) sessions. Student is expected to perform independent work, along with 1-1 meetings.

Scholarships

This service is offered free of charge to all students. Students will have access to a live google document detailing local and nationwide scholarships.

Letters of Recommendation

Students will be provided with key questions to answer prior to their requesting a letter of recommendation. This service is offered free of charge.

Time spent outside of scheduled sessions is billed at 15 minute increments.
